A Night Out in Kochi: Gourmet Crawl with Local Sake
Kochi City is a treasure trove of flavors: fresh local seafood paired with regional sake…
We went on a food-and-drink crawl, enjoying the city’s signature dishes and drinking spots
First Stop: Cheers at Hirome Market
We kicked things off at Hirome Market, the ultimate gourmet hall of Kochi.
A daytime drinking paradise where locals and tourists mingle in a lively atmosphere.
You can’t miss the katsuo no tataki (seared bonito)!
The smoky exterior, generous garnishes, and tangy ponzu sauce were absolute heaven.
Perfectly paired with beer or local sake.
Next Up: Nabe-Yaki Ramen at Taniguchi Shokudō
Our second stop was Susaki-style nabe-yaki ramen at Taniguchi Shokudō, tucked inside an arcade in the Obiyamachi district.
Served piping hot and bubbling in a clay pot
The chicken-broth base is simple, comforting, and the kind of flavor that warms your soul.
Far from just a “closing ramen”—it leaves you craving more!
Final Bite: Egg-Fried Rice at Tamagoyaki-Meshi Shop
For the perfect ending, we headed to the beloved Tamagoyaki-Meshi shop.
Behold the beautiful combo: fluffy eggs on perfectly-cooked rice.
I could’t stop eating—it’s simple, yet addictive.
Not “chahan” (Chinese-style fried rice), it’s “yaki-meshi” (egg fried rice) with a distinct Kochi twist!
The Real Finale: Warm Izakaya Vibes
Still not full? Neither were we.
We popped into a cozy izakaya with fresh seafood and local sake—it was late, but filling up anyway.
Sake and sea to taste—absolutely divine!
Despite being stuffed, we somehow ate even more—must be Kochi’s enchanting night food magic!
Conclusion: Kochi Nights Fill Both Heart and Stomach
The night in Kochi overflowed with deliciousness!
Finding local flavors is the joy of travel.
This crawl—from Hirome Market to egg-yaki rice—was deeply satisfying. I highly recommend it!
