Ekimae Koto Onsen

Located on Beppu Ekimae Dori, Ekimae Koto Onsen is a hot spring facility with an exterior reminiscent of a Taisho era Western-style building, with a large hall and rest rooms on the second floor, and reasonably priced accommodation is available by advance reservation. The hot spring has two bathtubs: a semi-circular "Atsuyu," which offers clear, clean water, and a "Nuruyu," which is made of hinoki cypress, a rarity among municipal and town-operated hot spring facilities.

Kasuga Onsen

Kasuga Onsen is a public hot spring popular among locals located in the northeast area of Beppu Station. The simple structure of the bathhouse is accessible to the general public by following the side path of the building and opening the door. 300 meters northeast of JR Beppu Station, it is a public bathhouse open to the public. The building has a retro atmosphere, and is an integrated structure with Beppu's unique community center, providing a small but typical Beppu hot spring experience. The temperature of the spring is 58 degrees Celsius, and may vary from day to day. The spring is a bicarbonate spring, and the quality of the spring can change.

Kaimonji Hot Spring

Formerly known as the Haimonji Park Onsen, this hot spring, which became a municipal hot spring in 1936, is located about a 5-minute walk from Beppu Station and is beloved by local citizens and tourists alike. After its reopening in February 2010, Haimonji Onsen was transformed into a facility with a barrier-free design and a calm Japanese-style exterior that blends in with the adjacent Haimonji Park. By providing two bathtubs of different temperatures, "hot water" and "lukewarm water," even tourists who do not like hot springs can easily take a bath and experience the charm of Beppu Onsen more familiarly.

Minamitategahama Onsen

Located about a 10-minute walk from Beppu Station, this communal bathhouse is a casual place to enjoy Beppu Onsen. Located in a residential area, there are no fancy signs or lights, so you may miss it if you are not careful. The bathing fee is 200 yen, and there is no receptionist at the entrance; the fee is placed directly into a box. There is a sign that reads "Anyone is welcome," and tourists are also welcome. The bathhouse has a square bathtub in the center, and the water is of course free-flowing hot-spring water. The water is slightly hot and you can feel the full warmth of the hot spring.

Takegawara Onsen

The name "Takegawara Onsen" comes from the fact that the bathhouse was originally roofed with bamboo, which, after reconstruction, was replaced by a tiled roof. This hot spring is believed to be effective for cuts, neuralgia, and recovery from fatigue.
In addition to the regular bathhouse, visitors can also experience the famous sand baths for which the hot spring resort is famous. The historic exterior and interior, as well as the bathtubs, create a retro atmosphere! The regular hot spring baths are located in the center of a large space down a flight of stairs, with high ceilings creating an open atmosphere. Since there are no specific washing areas and no shampoo is provided, visitors wash their bodies in the hot water of the bathtub using cleaning products they have brought with them, giving the facility a rustic charm.

Kotobuki Hot Spring

Kotobuki Onsen is located near Takegawara Onsen and has an austere appearance in a corner of the city. Stepping inside, one can feel the retro atmosphere of the Showa period. The price varies depending on whether you are a Beppu resident or not, making it a bit difficult for tourists to enter, but the comfort of the hot spring itself is second to none. The location is about 10 minutes from Beppu Station through the downtown area. After paying the fee and entering, you will immediately see a changing area and a bathtub. There is no partition between the changing area and the bathtub, which may be a style unique to Beppu. There is no washing area, and a large bathtub stands in the center of the room. The hot spring water is extremely hot and the atmosphere is unique.

Yayoi no Yu

Yayoi no Yu is located at the southern end of the Yayoi shopping street, about 100 meters south of the Ngu shopping street. The building has the appearance of having been designed by a designer with a new sensibility. The combined structure of the changing area and bathhouse is typical of the type of communal bathhouses found in Beppu. The entrance is an auto-locking system that opens when the bathing fee is paid. The bathrooms and bathtubs are not large, but they are divided into two categories: "hot" and "lukewarm. The temperature of the spring water is 45.4 degrees Celsius, and the quality of the spring water is simple.

Nageshi Onsen

Nageshi Onsen is the sixth on the Beppu Hachiyu Onsen Road, a historic public bathhouse located near the Asami River. At first glance, the red tin-roofed building reminds one of a temple. This hot spring contains ingredients such as sodium, magnesium, bicarbonate of soda, and chloride springs. The bathtub is typical of the smaller onsen facilities in Beppu and can accommodate five to six people at a time.

Yamada Onsen is a public bathhouse located in the inner Hamawaki district, and has a long history and is managed by the local community. Visitors can enjoy the retro atmosphere, and the hot water is a soothing Jimo spring that feels soft.

Yawata Onsen

Yahata Onsen is located in the city center in front of the gate of Yahata Asami Shrine, and is a spacious communal bathhouse, available for 100 yen. It is a quiet place visited by many locals, and is a particularly representative hot spring in this small, densely populated communal hot spring area. Located near Yawata Asami Shrine, this hot spring is one of the most popular and well-loved facilities in the area.

Konohana Onsen

Konohana Onsen is located at number 180 on the Beppu Hatto Onsen Road, between Beppu Station and Higashi Beppu Station, but closer to Beppu Station. The building is reminiscent of a local community center and is relatively new? The oval-shaped bathtub creates a relaxing atmosphere. The rounded bathtub is equipped with handrails and stairs, and was built with the elderly in mind.

Furosen

Furosen has the largest bathtub of all the municipal hot springs, and offers "hot" and "lukewarm" baths, allowing bathers to enjoy the hot spring at the temperature they prefer. This onsen is located approximately 200 meters south of Beppu Station. The facility is spacious and maintains a very clean and beautiful environment. There are several faucets, but only water is available, and shampoo and body soap are not provided. To wash your body or hair, use the hot spring water in the bathtub.
